A lot of people use the start of the new year to set goals and create a vision for the year ahead. Birthdays and the month of September are also great times to do an audit and take note on what may and may not be working for you anymore. The truth is, everyday we are offered the choice to start again, to make today better than before.
I sat down today to do my first real audit using the Stop, Start, Continue method. I've always dabbled in goal setting but there has never really been a grand vision for my life. Too often I get sidetracked and engage in activities that don't necessarily bring me closer to my goals. I set these ambitions only to disappoint myself. Today however, after my audit, I discovered that 2024 wasn't all bad. I started a bit of a morning routine and what I refer to as my Creating Health Protocol to end the day with as well. I will continue with my morning gratitude practice and exercise routines because it is crucial for my mental and physical health. Doing my pre-bedtime meditations have helped me notice and appreciate the small blessing, it helps me quiet my monkey mind.
I want to stop worrying and thinking about the things I cannot change. I want to stop the comparison game and putting myself down when I don't get done what I thought I should. I want to start playing pickle ball and getting more nature time in. I want to remember to savor the things around me, like the smell of the dirt after the rain or a quiet, clear night with a sprinkle of stars above.
An audit can help you pivot, allowing you to create more of what you want in your life and less of what isn't working for you anymore. The Stop, Start, Continue stategy will help you get clear on what you might need to do to make 2025 one of the best years yet. Happy New Year!
