I'll admit that, although 2025 wasn't exactly the stellar year I wanted to create for myself, it brought many joyous and celebratory moments. These moments can be easily forgotten if you're not careful. As we grind through our day to day life, nothing seems to change, but when we look back, so much has happened. Grab your phone, open your photos app and check out your year in review. For me, there were three new great-nephews, a family trip to Mexico, an extended family trip to British Columbia, some courses in Osteopathy, a couple of new books were read, a new house, a new town, a couple of weddings, lots of laughs, lots of love, and a very scary situation for my Mom.

What didn't I get done? My goal of completing one speech a month at Toastmasters never happened. My "no cookies for breakfast" rule lasted three days. And my never-ending, relentlessly ruminating, negative thoughts got the better of me more times than I care to mention. I admire those people who have mastered their emotions, they're so stoic and composed...

But, it's the start of a new year! The obvious time to start fresh, an opportunity for a new beginning, a new chapter. So what will 2026 bring? Consider what you want to stop doing, what you want to start doing, and what you will continue to do because its working for you. Create a vision for your life so you can live your life on purpose and be pleasantly suprized when you look back and see all the wonderous things you've done in the last year.

This year I was gifted a book called The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. The book describes a series of disciplines or actions to incorporate that have the most impact on our biology. Activities that actually change our physiology. These include: sitting in silence or a gratitude practice, affirmations, visualization techniques, exercise, reading and writting. 2026 is the year I am going to start a morning routine that is scientifically proven to help me be the best version of myself. For me personally, I find Mel Robbins podcasts to be super helpful. Back by science and casually delivered in a way that most of us can relate to. Her "Let Them" theory can be transformative and I hope to transform certain aspects of my life going forward.

My hope for you is that you have the courage to go after the thing that you need in your life to make you proud, and fulfilled. It's up to us. And in the words of Mary Oliver, " Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
